Agnes Obel: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Музыка
Bob Boilen | February 15, 2017 - Agnes Obel, a Danish singer and writer of deeply alluring music, brought her work into what you could call its opposite - an office in the daylight. While the setting is a bit contrary to her carefully plotted, vocally dense songs, she mapped out a strategy which included her own reverb and monitor mix in the (successful, I think) hope of giving the Tiny Desk an aesthetic more suitable to these focused and powerful songs.
And so, today we have Agnes Obel performing three songs from the enchanting Citizen of Glass alongside her band - keeping it sonically spare with just the right touch of keyboard and cello.
Citizens of Glass is available now:
iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/cit...
Amazon: www.amazon.com/Citizen-Glass-...
SET LIST
"It's Happening Again"
"Golden Green"
"Stone"
MUSICIANS
Agnes Obel (vocals, keys); Charlotte Danhier (keys, backup vocals); Kristina Koropecki (cello, backup vocals); Marianne Lewandowski (backup vocals, percussion)
CREDITS
Producers: Bob Boilen, Niki Walker; Audio Engineer: Josh Rogosin; Videographers: Niki Walker, Becky Harlan, Nicole Boliaux; Production Assistant: Jenny Gathright; Photo: Raquel Zaldivar/NPR.

Agnes obel music makes me feel like I'm in the back of an ambulance seeing the last moments of my life in iridescent flashes, and by that I mean I love her music.

While I like many different kinds of music (from classical to rock to ambient and more), Agnes Obel's music is transformative and hypnotic. It's also refreshing that she is humble in her performances, letting the music speak without a lot of flash. Thank you, Agnes, for bringing beauty to the world.
I LOVE Agnes, but all these women are very talented.
Agnes Obel and her crew create entire worlds of wonder and beauty that drives me to tears. Love your work, Agnes!
With no reverb on voice channel it’s easier to realize what an amazing singer she is. My favorite artist ever.
Of course Agnes Obel did a tiny desk performance. Some of the coolest songwriter/musicians on Earth have scratched their names into that desk.
OMG THIS WOMAN IS SUCH A GREAT ARTIST HOLY SHIT

I'd love to see Portishead playing on tiny desk. got chills just picturing that nyc show with the live orchestra.
a dropped a like based purely on sonic innovation. the whistling twirling sound from the cello player at the end of the first song. the perfect mimicry of the sound of rattling bones. The raw vocal talent here in addition to that imaginative sound creation really impressed me

I didn't realize I live along side actual Angels. They sound so beautiful together. This sound gives me hope in humanity. 💟
Just signed up for tickets to see Agnes next September in Cambridge UK. Long time to wait but I've been waiting so much longer for a chance to share a space and an evening with this ethereally beautiful woman, So a year will pass quickly, time will stand still and I will be left with a lifetime of memories. Well worth it!

Esse quarteto de vozes é a coisa mais linda que já ouvi , a sonoridade que elas fazem é singular e única. Agnes obel e banda , sincronidade pura.
Wow, what an amazing atmospheric and mesmerising performance, really enjoyed listening too and watching this performance . Musicianship at it finest ✊🏽
such inventive and creative music, it warmed my heart and lightened me up.

@@stephanieb6578 This video, even though an NPR production, is the one that's on iTunes. She may have more on iTunes but there's a lot here on KZread. She's Scandinavian, Norway maybe? I think she lives in Germany...if not, she's there a lot. It's been a while since I wrote that comment and had read all about her. She's apparently very popular in Europe. All I can say is, her music and her voice/singing style is unique to me and simply EPIC!
i'm so in love with her music 😭😭❤️
How unique! I love the presentation, I look forward to hearing her studio works.

It is getting better, and I like it. Listening to more of her and others music together as people like her and I mean this among all but the one way I noticed that good musicians from there ways is agreed upon that they all have an understanding from listening to what they wrote or rearranged and composed with variations on themes is where I see the difference is you don't rank these minds that create different sounds while using different people as opposed to having the same people travel with you everywhere you go and it sounds like a negative but it is not, from what I read. Everything has good and bad while these ladies and all musicians have tremendous heart and soul with a blend of memory that is not my loss but definitely again when you love the voice. I learned to appreciate that feeling more many years in opera vignettes in an octagonal stone round domed, pillared place for the performing arts. It was on The Ridges in Athens, Ohio and created and supported the music department of Ohio University. It had to be among my top five actual professional people in ballet and opera and I have yet to see and hear ballet that is considered internationally a company that enters the ways to better the patrons of these forms of performing arts. I sense the prideful nature that is a given and you can tell but not for me as I have seen the mixed continents and any countries dancers who focus on this and it is like a name in from the Russian Gallet Ballet while this is and has been first in mind but not ranking it. I don't feel that is at all what I wish to convey nor do you. I'm writing for the sake of the widow's son and that means for humanity no different than feminism evidenced by two favorite entertainer activists have he same answer at end of their show yet they do have a conviction for something better yet it circulates the blood more. I agree and not specifics but to the feeling that it gives me because it is based on history and being one who listens to many as I kind musicians, it is always a bad hair day as described by all as the chemistry between good players who know it and can repeat and readers of music that do it on the spot while throwing their own unless it is not that way. Improvisation, hoping I can read this in years to come. Why not, it is a good cheers different than here is to "world peace", and certainly. It is a great way to see better day and way in handling foreign relations which was of interest to me last time I was in an enrolled academic course. It is a great experience. except online which for me, it is just as good a reason to get it here and compliment those who brought and I do by writing and letting it be known or just reminding so I can write better which should corollate well with thinking better. I don't know but what I feel.
❤ great performance!!!
