Black Thought of The Roots: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert
Музыка
The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music's Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It's the same spirit - stripped-down sets, an intimate setting - just a different space.
_______________________________________________________________
April 8, 2020 | Abby O'Neill -- While our culture adjusts to the New Normal, artists are revealing the threads of our common humanity as they find new ways to bring their work to virtual communities. In this installment of Tiny Desk (home) Concerts, hip-hop wordsmith Tariq Trotter, aka Black Thought of The Roots crew, took the occasion to premiere three new songs.
On "Thought Vs. Everybody," Thought calls for unity in response to the conditions of an encroaching dystopia. Next up is "Yellow," a song from his upcoming off-Broadway musical Black No More, an adaption of the 1931 Afrofuturist novel by George S. Schuyler, set during the Harlem Renaissance. The track is co-written with Anthony Tidd. He closes with "Nature of the Beast," a cross-genre collaboration with alternative music sweethearts Portugal. The Man, who pop up on screen from a remote location. "Thought Vs. Everybody" and "Nature of the Beast" are produced by Sean C and will appear on Streams of Thought Vol. 3, which will be released as an EP.

Black Thought deserves being considered as one the greatest lyricist to ever walk this planet...
There are no words to describe what Black Thought is. The Greatest.
When I saw NPR Tiny Desk was featuring Black Thought I knew I had to immediately check this. I slept on him with The Roots' EP Organix, but I quickly saw the error of my ways with Do You Want More. Black Thought is an ambassador of the rap game, a lord of lyrics, and a mighty champion for the culture. May he continue to be blessed and share those blessings through song.

Opshun1 Only longtime fans of one of the greatest bands ever knows about that Organix LP. I’ve followed the Roots since they were street performers in Philly and known as the Square Roots. Salute!

@@thehomiejayomni I envy you for that. I saw The Roots in Europe during the summer of 2000. They are among the greatest live acts I've ever seen. Respect to you, sir!

How could you have slept on Organix when the roots released it independently and sold it at their shows.. Organix is what got them attention from labels and got them signed to a deal , which is when "do you want more .." came out.

So, I woke up at 3 in the morning out of nowhere and thought of his freestyles on funk flex. Watch that, then dissected it, then this uploaded out of nowhere??? The universe is connected in the strangest ways. So dope.
Black Thought is one of the dopest lyricist in Hip-Hop! He's been in my top 5 dead or alive since the "Things Fall Apart" album.
