Just Blaze Unpacks His Samples For Beyoncé and Jay-Z | The Formula, S1E1
Музыка
In the first installment of our new video series The Formula, producer Just Blaze unpacks the drum-centric samples he created for Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Whether he's tapping out sampled drums or incorporating live drummers in the studio, his ability to harness energy is what makes his sound so dynamic.

As someone whose producing and idolize some of the greatest to ever do, I can mos def say it's not a 5 minute process. Sometimes you create the idea and come back and have a whole day of idea making. Other days your creating like 6-13 beats a day. If I have the full thing in head, I put it down. Usually takes like 15 minutes. But thats like maybe 10% finished. Depending on how you start and the complexity of the beat.

He’s a genius...misunderstood a lot but that’s the price for greatness. I would pay for that show Just Blaze....
Show me what you got still give me chills!! Them drums INSANE
Love the way he makes his beats sound so human and natural, so you just cant tell there automation behind
Whoever does the visualizations for these... well done!
I love everything Just Blaze has put out but without a doubt his most meaningful work to me comes from his collaboration on NBA Streets Vol. 2. Nothing but pure, raw sonic energy the entire play through. The level 2 game-breaker beat still gives me chills. No other video game experience gives me the feel that that one does and it's been 17 years! Much love and respect big homie JB!

Album needed a batter mix as well. Just Blaze and Young Guru, engineer, could've took that project to another level sonically. That project sounds like a glorified mixtape, as far as quality of beats and mixing.

When I started watching this video I was hoping this comment would be in the comment section thank you for not letting me down
Just Blaze is in my opinion, the greatest hiphop beatmaker of ALL time... his joints are timeless and have endless replay value..."What We Do" is IMO the greatest sounding hiphop recording ever made.. JustBlaze cooked up amazing joints for JayZ, Kanye West, Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Cam'ron, Saigon, Jay Electronica, Memphis Bleek, Dipset, Joe Budden, Fabolous, Maino, Eminem, Beyonce, T.I., etc..he's produced some of the greatest artists greatest songs...
“Show me what you got” is speeding music.
Just Blaze productions are so organic and feel like there is a marching band playing it live. Bombastic.
Segment's cool, but they forgot or omitted the fact that TLC's "Diggin on You" is the sample used for "Hovi Baby." That's a great flip by Just Blaze, and Hov's rhyme schemes on that joint are next level. Btw, never knew 1500 or Nothin' played the instruments on "Show Me What You Got." That whole production/musician squad is so dope.
He says "last but not least" after the second track....give us all the tracks NPR! This one should be 10x longer

Kinda off kilter like Hovy Baby, Wild Drumming/Cymbals, ETC. BIG UP TO JB! ONE OF THE GREATEST!

SL Smith check out The Meters - incredible New Orleans group who has been together for a LONG time. Very well known to us in the music industry. The rhythm section is out of this world! The tone is to die for. Which is why The Meters (and Leo Nocentelli on drums, then Russell Batiste, Jr. in the later incarnation) get sampled so heavily! The one live album they have, Life on the Queen Mary - that’s a great place to start. 😊
