@@phenominiallmusic I find it funny how its seemingly always the people who have little to no knowledge of singing and technique... Coming from a knowlegeable and trained singer, she really DOES have lots of control and mastery over her voice for someone so young. Her voice might not be as showy as someone like Adele or Ariana (shes not a mezzo/soprano for a start), but she has many technical tools at her disposal thanks to her theatre backgroud. She knows how to belt pretty healthily; has a gorgeous head voice and falsetto and can transition between registers with ease, good vibrato, uses intentional break well in order to deliver both stylistically and emotively. True she does share similarities to other "sad girl indie pop singers", but she already is way ahead of many other young mainstream singers in terms of knowing how to use her instrument - and still has many years to develop it. Regardless...haters will still scream "she cant sing". I understand how easy it is to be jealous of a young girls talent and success. You may not think shes an "amazing" singer or think her voice is anything special, but objectively she is very good at singing and her chesty tone stands out.

You can have a voice that's an 8 or 9 (with millions of 10s out there wishing they had a career) if you have decent control, and songs you wrote for your own style and voice that are good songs. Adele, Lewis Capaldi, and many others are perfect examples of this.

It happens. I scrapped it. But it’s clear t a different song from paramore and much better written with more sophisticated chord progressions.major thirds and chords. The chorus sounds similar.

im impressed with the mixing, acoustic guitars sound super muddy when stacked, just two guitars played together will turn the whole recording into mush, these girls are playing the same four chords on five guitars and it all sounds pristine somehow.

people don’t realize how hard performing live is. sure some of her vocals in concert lately have not been the best but you also have to entertain. here, she’s just chilling and the vibe is a lot less stressful and she’s absolutely KILLING IT. and she’ll only get better!!!

Honestly, this is actually A LOT better than the studio version. She puts so much more emotion in it and the vocals have become a lot more complex without being overwhelming or showoff-y. Plus the sound quality is too notch.

I don’t think people realize how hard good for you is to actually sing well, the entire way through. It rides right in the break of most mezzo voices (that C-C#) it’s so hard to support that sound and it’s really impressive how she sustains it throughout the chorus

What I love about this performance is how tight the band is, and how clear the mix is. Every instrument fits within its own sonic sphere and contributes to the sound, rather than being compressed and smashed to mush. Each instrument is performing its own contributions and it gives so much space to the sound that when they converge and play in a similar sonic space it lifts those moments to the stratosphere. This is most evident in this arrangement of "Deja Vu." Killer band, killer songs, killer performer.

I wish this album was out when I was 18 and went through my first heartbreak. I'm 44 now and it takes me right back to that time.

people who say she can't sing and sounds bad live are idiots. She has a great voice, stage presence. Get used to seeing her as she is here for the long haul. Excellent artist I look forward to hear her maturity in her music in the future.

as many times as I listened to drivers license it never made me cry but the raw emotion, her control and her delivery was very moving.

You can feel her pain as she sang "Traitor". Then boom it was gone and to the next heartfelt song..

It’s impressive to her artistry how much emotion she can still put into performing Driver’s License even though it’s a mega hit now and she’s performed it so many times in a short period.

I appreciate that all her band mates jumped onto guitar for the first song.

Drivers license, so beautiful and powerful. The sounds and words made me cry.

Her vocal maturity and lyric intelligence at her age is just dumbfounding - and she’s so calm and cool about it. Like, sing a mega hit, shrug, say cool, walk to the keyboard, sing a colossal hit, walk quietly back to the guitar like it’s nbd and like she’s just with her friends in the living room. This new generation of SUPERSONGSTRESSES (Rodrigo and Eilish namely) is so exciting! I can’t wait to hear what she does next! Oh yeah, and if breaking up with her isn’t the biggest regret of that boy’s life already, it will be. Taylor paved the way for these girls and I am ready for this!

A fellow 22 year old, I went through a break up from a relationship that came to be after they helped me when I was discharged from the hospital. Called another girl in his life his ‘second girlfriend’ one time and rubbed me the wrong way. Broke up with me at 6am before a nursing shift at the hospital I had just started working at (third shift). Broke me in to a million pieces. Nearly two years later and I don’t feel worth. Traitor is my song for that part of my life. Long story short, all relatable songs. Sorry for the ramble. Haha.

This is the best vocal performance of her career, so far. She is absolutely phenomenal and such a great songwriter!!

I've come back to this version of Deja Vu about 1,000x. Every band member is just vibing it and in the groove and Olivia's voice is even better than the album version IMO.

Man ... What a voice.. Genuinely beautiful

Liking this female energy a lot. We need more all-girl bands.

@@candyfishtail I’m not being mean just honest. I don’t see the talent or vocal ability whatsoever sorry. There’s much more talented artist that deserve recognition than her.

I love how she let's the music and her voice speak. No flashy clothes, hair up, basic looking. Because it's not just about her, its about her soul, her writing and music❤️❤️

This is pure perfection. There are many talented singers but very few have the control and emotion like she does. I wish I had her music when I was a teenager! It gives me all the feels. She captures perfectly how many girls experience heartbreak in high school. 💗

I love Tiny Desk format, show the essense of artist. This real and pure talent. Amazing!

"Deja vu" guitar solo is so hipnotic, makes the song. Genius.

This video played for me right after Taylor Swift's Tiny Desk performance, and although both singers have their merits, Olivia had better control and range with her voice 😍😘 I felt much more relaxed and had fun listening to it!

The amount of CONTROL in deja vu... she never fails to impress me.

I’m 25 yo and her music makes Me feel like I’m a 34 yo feeling like I’m 17 yo going through heartbreak and teenage feels. It’s Nostalgic, weird, but I adore it. ❤

Her voice is incredible. Loving these tiny desk concerts so much.

The quality of her singing live is mind blowing.

I feel deja vu is one of the underrated tracks on the album. Yes, it was a single, but of the singles she's released, it is the least talked about. I hope this performance has more people talking about it. Acoustic Olivia performances are the best

@@franciscojuarez5072 I’d say her chances in Best New Artist are very high considering her impact and how big she’s gotten in only a year, but so many great deserving artists are up for the Grammys (which I have to say were messed up before her), so we’ll have to see!

Let's be real here, the way she did this Deja Vu version is fire and the band they're amazing!

I never thought it was possible, but every video I watch, I love her more.. I love seeing the whole band crushing it together - they all genuinely look like they're having the best time which enhances the entire listening experience and I am so here for it.

Yeah...reminds me of that beautiful summer when Halsey hit the scene, and it was bam‼️bam‼️one right after another, in her genuinely, creative way. And like Halsey, it definitely doesn't hurt that you can't t take your eyes off your eyes off Olivia's face, and she knows it😍

She's getting a fair amount of digital "help" here. Both auditory and visual. Bit of a bummer, really, as IMO that's not what Tiny Desk is supposed to be about.

A lot of people can play those instruments and sing. I think what makes her talented is her songwriting. She is talented and hardworking and that's the perfect combination.

Traitor always gives me goosebumps everytime, but this live version brought me to tears 🥹

Why is this energy so healthy in every possible way❤

Man the arrangements for all these are even better than the originals. I want officially released versions of these lol.

Wow I never listen to Olivia Rodrigo because I'm not super into modern pop with a lot of editing/tuning, but I'm SO impressed by her vocals and how good these songs sound acoustic. This is fantastic- thank you to these wonderful musicians and to NPR!!

@@mandavvv That's fine, i'll try to explain. There's a TV/screen in the top right hand corner that says serving screen. When Liv sings each song the number on that screen changes to match the number that it appears on SOUR!!!

Olivia is so beautiful, such a kind soul she is

I'm a 39 year old mom , and olivia's music and videoclips hit me with so much nostalgia for the life i lived in my teens and 20s, as well as all my unlived lives that i'll never get to live, and all the 90s chick flicks that influenced me growing up, and the courtney love concerts of my youth... This young woman has brought so much new meaning to my life with her music, I've never connected with a young artist the way I've connected with her art. ❤
