Other Lives: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Музыка
The Oklahoma band's droning minor-key hymns were seemingly made for wide-open spaces and big skies. The group brings that spirit to the Tiny Desk for a spacious but intimate performance at the NPR Music offices.
Set List:
"For 12"
"Old Statues"
"Dust Bowl III"

I’m 50, and when I was off work two days ago, I had an empty house alone , kids and wife at school, and sang and strum these amazing songs to the top of my lungs
2022 and i love this forever
You can definitely hear the "How to Disappear Completely" influence but they also have their very own sound. Absolutely love.
Just have to say. I LOVE THIS. I know this isnt a terribly popular band which only makes it all the more special. I LOVE ALL OF YOU. You are special people. SO FEW bands today touch me in the same way as this does. Ever since I saw this Ive been back time and time again and Ill keep coming back to this video until Im 90 years old. This band deserves more attention than I feel theyre getting. Its merely a symptom of living in todays confused and lost world. "Other Lives", if you see this, know that YOU ARE appreciated and it would mean a great deal to me if you keep tapping into the well from which you pulled up these three magical and moving songs. Finding this band marked a uniquely strange time in my life.

musicisbrilliant There is plenty of serious and sincere music out there today, you just have to dig it out. You won't hear it on the radio. I just discovered this band a few days ago and I'm glad I did. This is beautiful.
I don't care how many times I've listened to this, I am forever more in love with Other Lives. What an excellent pairing of musicians! I adores this set!
I was at the Dec. 8th show. Absolutely Mesmerizing. Goosebumps for 75 straight minutes
One of the few bands I can honestly say their live versions are much better than their produced versions. Love it!
This band is currently my favorite and has been since I first heard Tamer Animals in 2011. I saw them in Chicago (Lincoln Hall, Feb 2012) and Grand Rapids, MI (Nov 2012) and would've gone to see their last Tamer Animals show in Chicago again if I could've made the trip. They are incredible live and, by all accounts, the grand finale at Lincoln Hall on Dec 8th was amazing. I'm so looking forward to hearing what they do next!!
constantly showing my friends this band.. Keep up the great sound

Still my favorite band. I miss the members that have gone on to do other things. They’re still making great music though.

that second song is ****ing awesome. I imagine them playing it while all marching through a big flat field of wheat.
I was sooooooo sad when this ended. I could listen to the elegant drone for hours... days even.

First time I have heard this band... It's absolutely fantastic. If they played with a slightly faster tempo and louder, it would be out of this world good.
God damn this band is so good.
Spell binding...real magic. Hope you come to Ireland...Cork....some day.
So good!
I love this.
Amazing!!
NPR delivers ANOTHER quality tiny desk performance. I didn't see that coming. ;P Great video, thanks for sharing!
Amazing!
Really liked the music.
One hell of a performance.
Best Album ever !
Fleet Foxes and these guys.... man some amazing music....
What a band.
Vraiment très cool cette musique, j'adore
I just saw them at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco. I can't believe you can see a band this good at such a small venue. They were excellent and I expect they're going to surge in popularity. I think they're opening for Radiohead on the upcoming tour.
The Best.
Best first heard of them 15 yrs ago on Blogotheque channel...
DUST Bowl III is so good......
Love this band. Hey NPR, I have a suggestion... You should include a link to the bands page in the description! Ill find it either way, thanks!

I like that term...probably will catch on sooner or later...
pure genius
my Oklahomies. wonderful.
Perfectly true to key and rythm - and yet: all spirit and soul you could wish for. Real vioces, real instruments. It sets them far apart from all the cheap computer generated pop that crowds radio stations these days.
Oh I was in the dark age Searching for the ones in my mind. I'm so far away But I had hit the ground runnin'. Steady as you go, I don't mind. I'm still here today. Oh spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes And forever talking when it ain't so kind. But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction. And I had took the long way. And I was in the heat, I don't mind, I'm so far away. But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction. Nudging the ghost from the skull. And a night without sleep. Vibration comes first to the head and last to the feet. Spouting hymns and buzzing rhymes And forever talking when it ain't so kind. But it feels like forever on the run. When your mind turns to fiction. So long, So long..
Espetacular
Woooow!!!
Great band. The lead singer is quite charming.
Good fucking grief. So great. They really are better live than any recording I've heard.
Wow... these guys are so tight live... :o very few bands have that potential outside the recording studio...
nice nice!!!
one word...sick
this is a very talented, well-kempt, group of pirates. :0
They used to be called Kunek back in the day. Look up there album on KZread, it’s called Flight of the Flynns. You can tank me later. They have always been a wonderful group of people.
