Patrick Watson: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Музыка
With a gifted backing band on hand to help flesh out three songs from Adventures in Your Own Backyard, Watson conducts a swirl of interlocking loveliness that still finds room for surprises, from a singing saw to a microphone that makes his voice sound as if it's bouncing off some faraway satellite.
Set List:
"Adventures In Your Own Backyard"
"Words In The Fire"
"Into Giants"

I'll always remember writing him a letter asking where I could purchase waterproof9 when it first came out in 2001 - he just mailed me the CD, and this has always stuck with me.

Saw him live tonight in Toronto and life felt normal for a few hours. His music is like a hug. Intimate and majestic. What a treasure of a human.

Since I couldn't find em elsewhere, here are the names of the musicians Patrick Watson - Vocals Simon Angell - Acoustic Guitar Mishka Stein - Electric Guitar Mélanie Bélair - Violin Robbie Kuster - Percussion

I much prefer when those names are included on the notes and even more when the people with mics introduce everyone performing - it isn’t that hard to do and there is no reason why that isn’t protocol.
I seem to cry a lot when I watch Patrick Watson's performances on KZread...and I'm a GROWN ASS MAN!

When they played in SXSW they had the audience go silent, because they were doing almost everything acoustic on one mic. It was really good.

Patrick is soooo talented! To me, he is a classic. I have been a faithful fan since the beginning. Everything he produces is a m a z i n g, with complexities through vocals and instruments. I appreciate his music. He is musically genius.
The workers who do this are so lucky to hear so many different bands and musicians right in front of them Like I’ll never get to listen to even half of what they have
Every performance I see from these guys Patrick is always keeping his hands very busy with lots of flailing gestures. I love it lmao

I've seen Emmy award winners play music but never an Emmy award player
doesnt he have one of the most beautiful, soft and controlled voices in contemporary indie / folk?? can't believe no one else is commenting on that. i love his voice!
I really am always amazed at the beautiful and haunting sound that you can get out of something as strange and as mundane as a saw.
Does someone else keep coming here to feel alive?
I always wonder what kinda life the people might live who press the dislike button on clips like these. Wonderful Patrick Watson, I always love what he does.
Went to his concert in Philly in 2023 and he was nuts. The music was beautiful. He makes everything up as he goes and conducts the entire band. It was beautiful
I love watching musicians who clearly FEEL the music. On another plane.
his eyebrows are magnificent.
'Into Giants' is a superb song and this version gives me goosebumps.
here 9 years later. still beautiful
Best thing I did was to book a flight to NY just to go see him live. Looking forward to it again.
I love him - he sings like an angel! I love all the voices at 2:46. I love his smile and laugh at 9:17. I love how he is still wearing 3 concert bracelets.
This is hauntingly good music...the voice of the girl and the guy in harmony with that crazy effect sounds so beautiful to me.
Thats Got to be the most creative session on tiny desk concert
i love the innovative instruments in all of these. saw with a violin bow instead of a lap guitar, spare change instead of a shaker, in another video a guy smacking a suitcase instead of a bass drum
I've watched this vid more than any other vid on KZread...hand's down without a doubt.
I think I’m in love.
No other video on youtube have I rewatched so many times. Beguiling set.
Best thing to come out of Canada by far..

El mejor concierto que hemos ido en muchos años. Gracias !🤠 , desde Osorno🇨🇱🌎
Love the style, clean sound, range. Makes you pay attention.
I love this. So original. I have enjoyed the sound of these 3 songs and their differences but the way they do them they hv a cohesiveness. Beautiful. What a talented band too.
Such a great artists, it's an amazing feeling just listen to them, Patrick has the most beautiful voice ever.

Quando a pessoa sente a música é outro nível! Nossa o patrick é demais 🤧💜
He's the best! Thank you NPR.
Such a lovely version of Into Giants in this setting! Kudos from Canada for this!
This is actually prefect. What a musical genius.
Wow... just, Wow! This seems to me to be the most impressive display of musicality, in which even these creative beautiful sounds from unusually played instruments is still overshadowed by the simple beauty of a voice (or two; the back-ups are no slouches, either).
The band is amzing... Love that sound of the guiter
what a great album loved it when it came out still one of the best bands out there!! real music craftsmanship right there..
He seems like an odd fellow. I might or might not want to have a conversation with him. Probably not, because I'd rather listen to his music. This is not a criticism. His music is so beautiful that I would choose it over all but the most impressive of conversation. And he surrounds himself with extremely [multi] talented backing musicians. What a confluence of talent and apparent onstage respect. What a beautifully layered unique product their gripping music is.
