Villagers: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Музыка

Conor O'Brien essentially is Villagers. The Dublin, Ireland, native played nearly all of the instruments on the band's debut album, 'Becoming a Jackal,' and even did the cover artwork. Though he tours with a full backing band, for this Tiny Desk performance he showed up with just his guitar. In the process, he treated the NPR staff to one of the most beautiful and memorable sets we've had here.
Setlist:
"Ship of Promises"
"Becoming a Jackal"
"Twenty Seven Strangers"

How are Villagers not better known? In my humble opinion one of the best song writers of all time. His music has given me so much joy, comfort and perspective. Incredible artist and beautiful musician!

Conor, I went to your very first concert in Hamburg when you played the Jackall album. I was 29 at the time and, bit late, just starting to live my life in a way. I've been struggling with anxiety and depression most of my life but your music, especially Jackall, has given me so much life and emotions. I've been listening to your music ever since. So thank you making me come alive in a way.

***** Npr said they have a policy that they dont have people back, so one concert per artist or band. Its a crappy policy but it keeps it fresh i guess

That makes no sense. It'd make more sense if it's one concert per album or a couple albums, because artists can change considerably between releases.

they actually had alt-J back, under the condition that they made a very different concert recently, we can always hope they would make new exceptions!

Conor for his tender years has gravitas and talent. A joy to listen to. Again we Irish despite the awfulness of our politicians have a soul and a voice that links to the world.

Nice show, young lad! Sounds a bit like Conor Oberst, but this Coner has plenty of time to evolve - and he's already got that real bard vibe...Not to mention props to anyone who can just stand up there naked behind a mic and acoustic guitar. That's true talent!
