one of the best our generation has seen. PERIOD.
Jolie Holland is the real deal. Prolific, abundantly talented, timeless. Had the honor of meeting her in early 2020 before the pandemic set in. Being a musician myself, Ive met a lot of musicians throughout the years, but shes the one who had me star struck.

I went full fan girl on her after a show back in 2017 or 2018 at the Cedar Cultural Center in MPLS. Totally professed my love and admiration for her! And that unbeknownst to her I had been a back up singer for her since 2003 or 2004 lol. She was so cool about my gushing. And it was truly wonderful to see her and Samantha perform and get to thank them/her, for the decades of music that have deeply touched my heart and soul. What a gem of a person. She is one of the greats.
She's so incredibly talented. i wish more people knew about her. xx

Think it was 2003 in boulder when I first heard and seen , Some things never change
voice of an angel. Classic and timeless =]
Listening to Jolie play solo is just magic ~ it's like listening to a voice from early-mid last century + although she complains about her guitar/playability - she's just right on!
Wow, her whistling is amazing, too.
Jolie is amazing. That voice.
So glad I had a lover introduce me to David Gray. Beautiful whistling and harmony!
What a deep and soul voice, I love it. ♥
I held myself and cried to this song. You reminded me I am alive and that poetry is a curse, but it's velvet madness is also a blessing. Thanks, Jolie.

I love this woman. The lyrics of that first song....Powerful....pain.
She is fabulous.
Her whistling style is awesome.
Discovered this talent listening to David Gray. Whistling=perfectly carmelized vocals
Jolie will never get anywhere near a Grammy, which shows you how messed up the music industry is
That's the same guitar as my very first, have never seen the like again 'til now. She makes it sing better than I ever could. :)
Listening to her album and getting an extended time with her voice and songs is pretty interesting. I like her - different.
she's awesome!
Great song!!!
HEY! NPR!! The 3rd song is getting cut off. Fix it please!!!
Glad to see Jolie getting some of this attention. I went to her show in Portland, Maine this summer and there were less than 20 people who showed up. It affected her peformance -- she was lackluster and terse. I wish she had had the grace she shows in this Tiny Desk Concert.
She brings me to literal tears with her whistling @5:43
love the music but just gotta say...those are the best lips in the history of modern music !

do some research then lol :)
Why did NPR Tiny Desk cut her off mid-song? It's inexcusable. They owe Jolie Holland a re-do. Then more people will see her.
i've fallen in love
No one's laughing at that guitar - she makes it sound like a million bucks.
Mesmerizing. ^^
she satisfies my affection for affectation

: Such a soulful voice, I love it.
She's the bomb .....
It`s free,so we can`t criticize NPR for cutting the best song after 25 seconds.However..
I think you should get her again in full HD
Best whistler next to Andrew Bird

Aaack! The video cut off at the start of her third song. NPR, please fix.
Yeah it's still cutting off
My dream lover...
What happened to the 3rd track? .......... Not like NPR. If you haven't got the rest, at least cut what you have got out.
gramaphone cool..a truly special entity. alcapone angle
awkward to have phone ring, you would think that would have been taking care of, good thing it was at the end
TELEPHONE,LMAO. GOOD MUSIC
She was in Portland? Damn there should be better advertising. /cries
why the fuck can't people just be how they are at whatever minute under whatever circumstance and that be ok? do musicians need to be happy and relaxed because you'd prefer it? what?
Where the heck is the rest of it? FFS!
o_O ...I see what you did there.
LMAO!!!!!
it's weird but some how her vocal style reminds me of J Mascis

good voice, but guitar is too loud...
Jolie, will you marry me?
The original cursive girlie?
I love her music, I really do. I just think she sucks as a human being. But, to me, her contribution outweighs her personality.

Starbuck2015 I think she’s disappointed in modern music journalism and doesn’t hide it. I don’t think that means that she sucks as a human. I appreciate her authenticity very much.

@@jordansaintemarie I like her music and I like her soulful singing. I don't think she "sucks as a human being" either. Unless one knows someone personally he's not in a position to judge.

Every interaction I have with her is genuine and kind. Nobody’s perfect, but she’s got a wonderful personality.
