Lost In The Trees: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Led by Ari Picker, who studied film scoring at Berklee, Lost in the Trees creates a cinematic blend of storytelling and strings. There's freshness and excitement to the music he writes, and that comes through in his arrangements of cellos, violins, tubas, French horns, guitar and more. Here, the band performs three of its new songs in the NPR Music offices.
Set List:
"All Alone In An Empty House"
"Song For The Painter"
"Time Taunts Me"

Less than 50,000 views? It's just ridiculous when I think about their beauty and power to impress. Ari's voice and the orchestra and the lyrics make my tears well up in my eyes. They are such sublime and gorgeous people.

I definitely hear the film score sound in these arrangements. During "Song for the Painter" i could just imagine dramatic plot lines and memorable flashbacks being delivered during musical interludes. Something about the the xyliphone at 7:15 to 8:00 takes me back to my childhood. I'm not sure why a musical instrument would have such power...perhaps it's often played in dream sequences in popular film; or maybe it has a soothing lullaby sound that whispers calm to my remembering ears.

Ari and his voice composition can rocket with or without the orchestra its still Lost In The Trees. When i pop in this music for my grand kids in about 40 years i will be saying this is Lost In The Trees not reduced band from over 10 people of orchestra. As a whole from the first album put out to their last they will remain the same. Minus or Plus.

¿Vamos a irnos algún día?

No :( no more string players, they have now melted down to a 5 member band and only 2 guitars 1 bass and keyboard and drums, they just recorded the new album like last week, but at the most recent show I saw they only played songs off the new album that is coming out very soon.

I think they're both playing cellos. The foot pegs in the instrument might just be at different heights to account for the musician's frame/torso...

wow really. Im whats wrong with the internet? haha oh man. So i guess with all the rotating band members of The Temptations they should have changed the bands name each time. What about The Rolling Stones? Had many band member switches. Lets change the name. Eff the internet. You are whats wrong with the word, but its okay ignorant prevails. Just think about it.
