Woven Hand: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
On tour with a full band, Woven Hand's David Eugene Edwards went solo at Bob Boilen's desk with his mandolin-banjo hybrid, a unique instrument made in 1887 by luthier August Pollman. He performs his fiery Americana, as well as a plaintive take on Bob Dylan's "As I Went Out One Morning."

Giselle Fauquet So cool when you think if it. I come here quite a bit too. It comforts me, suiths me. Cool to hear that it might do the same for a complete stranger somewhere. Regards from the Netherlands.

Me too. I can listen to him play all day. This video is gold, so enjoyable and calming
I always come back here... this music is like a sanctuary to me, a hand on my shoulder
Seeing David live was like having a religious experience. Beyond talented and soulful.

I'm so glad to see others have had this experience. Seeing him fronting 16 hp in the 90s was an absolute honor to see a true heart felt artist.
I am from Greece...and i haven't seen before so much energy in a live stage, before....Woven Hand .. great band.....
One of the greatest songwriters and artists of the 2000's. His music will endure ..

He and John Davis of superdrag are easily my favorite songwriters right now.
He’s a genius huge influence for me
Wow you can really hear his vocal texture here - awesome
That bango has seen so much pain and sadness. Timeless sound
Love that sound. Wovenhand vibes
It's amazing how powerful his instrument is in this song. So delicate and haunting, yet driving and insistent. His voice and instrument alone are a perfect match.
one of the most beautiful voices right now.
As I Went Out One Morning... my favourite.
This is a special performance. Praise the God who brings such beauty in life. There is much pain in life, which God had his own purposes for. His ways are higher than ours and our understanding is mere dust compared to his.
David is a wonderful songwriter and player Great to see this again
I love the way he talks less and plays more.
I just love the sound of that mandy-banjer. Absolutely love the one about the horse. My grand-daughter got me back into horses.
He touches my soul with his music.
FWIW, here's the setlist: 00:00 Whistling Girl 05:13 As I Went Out One Morning 08:29 Kingdom of Ice
If the opportunity presents itself to see Wovenhand live, drop your plans and go! Seriously. Practically a spiritual experience... Best $10 I ever spent in Austin, TX, bar none.

LOVE this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this instrument is called a banjola, a mix between a banjo a mandola.

Might want to check the spelling of Pollman vs Pullman. The former distributed string instruments, like this one. The latter, from what I can find, did not.
but: do ya mean it?
I wonder were his ancestors have been from. Maybe someone moved over from Ireland or GB? Why do I feel this connectedness? I always fall in love, but in another, kind of familiar way
