Corinne Bailey Rae: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
Музыка
September 19, 2016 by BOB BOILEN • It's been six years since Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae released her second album, The Sea, so this Tiny Desk concert feels like both a re-introduction and a welcome back. The Sea dealt with the sudden death of her husband, saxophonist Jason Rae; since then, she's married producer Steve Brown, and together they've made a new record called The Heart Speaks In Whispers. That album has this English singer recording with the likes of Esperanza Spalding, Marcus Miller and members of the band KING.
There's real joy in this genre-defying performance - just great songs and a unique voice. It's a treat for new fans and old friends alike.
The Heart Speaks In Whispers is available now:
iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/the...
Amazon: www.amazon.com/Heart-Speaks-W...
SET LIST:
"Paris Nights / New York Mornings"
"Hey, I Won't Break Your Heart"
"The Skies Will Break"
CREDITS:
Producers: Bob Boilen, Niki Walker; Audio Engineers: Suraya Mohamed, Josh Rogosin; Videographers: Niki Walker, Colin Marshall; Production Assistant: Rachel Horn; Photo: Morgan McCloy/NPR.

She is so beautiful, inside & out. She suffered a great loss in 2008 and for a minute I felt that Corinne would not recover, but recover she did and we get to hear more new songs sing by that sweet voice of hers.My daughter told me about her when she had the song, 'Girls put your records on.' She was fresh, naive, and innocent as a child. Today she is all grown-up and singing real heart breaker songs...You go girl....

TachirosLament both of her albums are good but Corinne was truly herself with The Sea. In fact both her second and third album she was truly herself in. Not to mention The Sea is so much better written and a lot more relatable. “I can do it all again” , “Diving For Hearts”, “Closer”, “Are you here”, “I would like to call it beauty” songs proves not only how amazing of a writer Corinne is but also when she’s truly in her element, she can express herself to in any genre. Hell, Corinne was a lead singer in a rock band back in her school days. As much as her self titled album is great and what got me into her, her second and third album is where Corinne truly shines her creativity. Which to me, proves how underrated of a writer and performer she is. Yes, she’s my favorite artist of all time
I love her down tempo slow songs, her voice is godly
I have her in my memory... when I lived in a place not good, one day I turn the tv on and was showing a concert of her, it gave me hope to make my life better
WOW, she really DOES, "smile with her eyes." Amazing. And her gift - indelible.

Literally was listening to other Tony desk and said to myself I would love to see Cornnie B. And look! The universe knows how to feed my soul
She has a romantic voice, since she first came out the music scene. Always loved her voice, it always captured me in a strong way. She looks great too, lovin her hair 👍.
I saw her live in Austin and she was absolutely amazing. Been a fan since day one.
Watching this now, June 2024. My son brought me her first cd years ago. Seeing and hearing her brings a smile to my face. So naturally beautiful.
The way I smiled when I heard the intro to Paris Nights/New York Mornings 😩❤️
i am happy to see her happy. her sound is deeply affectionate
Watching her smile singing the part 0:30 "one more coffee and one last cigarette" makes me smile too Can't stop watching the same part

"Hey, I Won't Break Your Heart" is one of the most beautiful love songs I've heard in a while. Still gives me chills. Love Corinne
Her smile is literally sooooo gorgeous
Album of the year 2016, for me, was The Heart Speaks In Whispers, hands down. That and Blonde by Frank Ocean. CBR, has a gorgeous timber x persona x intonation x terribly honest lyrics x a charming smile in her eyes while she sings. Ugh, I’m getting all romantic but she brings it out in me. ❤️🖤❤️🖤❣️❣️❣️❣️
When you start to cry, its means she's cleansing you.
Attractive, fresh, free spirit approach in expressing her musical talents as an entertainer. A natural beautiful woman that projects her inner soul to the world with a magnetic child-like innocence as well w/great fellow band members...Namaste.
Where does she hide her wings?
Proves everyone wrong on KZread that says that musicians of a certain era were the best ever. This is simply incredible and stands up to music of the past and I suspect that of the future.

She's probably smiling because she gets to listen to that gorgeous voice all day.
When I was in Chichester for 3 months, I listened to Corinne every single day and now every time I hear her music, I’m reminded by that carefree moment in my life. She will always be associated with a little slice of happiness for me. Seeing her perform live reaffirms that. Thank you for what you do Corinne!!!
And suddenly I am taken back to when I first heard this young Lady, and thought, "She is undoubtedly brilliant." Absolutely brilliant is Ms. Bailey.
