💯I had a wonderful idea probably 15 years ago. A year in Hip Hop "Music" theme. Get the big name artist to do a year of shows with live bands. Concerts, tv appearances, promos everything. Would've been nice.

Same here. Born in 1983 and the first rap mixtape I got my hands on (at the age of 9) had Cypress Hill, Naughty by Nature, NWA, Slick Rick, LL Cool J and all the other Kings of the scene back then. I listened to that tape over and over until it eventually disintegrated.

maybe the best live hip hop drumming ive seen, really diligently sticking to the loops and not throwing in unnecessary fills, keeping that tension and staying clean and clear is one of the most underrated things about drumming for something like this.

Just back from a Cypress Hill and Ice Cube gig and they were as good as the 1st time I saw them in the 90s

Most people don't understand how difficult it is to rap like this. Being on time with the beat and Acapella while also knowing the breaks for each verse and hook. Incredibly talented.

Wow! I found it hard for Cypress to work on this format but wow, they did it awesome! Those horns sound incredible and smooth and the vocals blend together very well! Thumbs up!!

I love how back in the day, songs had a good story attached to them.

Live Hip Hop doesn’t get much better than this right here. So much respect for these brilliant artists.

Tiny Desk Concerts have had the best lineup of any festival this year and I don't even gotta leave my chair - thank you guys for not only continuing this awesome series, but pushing the boundaries and elevating the format. To me, these performances are incredibly important pieces of human history

Definitely underrated series! It's always delightful no matter who is playing!

As a teenager in 90s I was into grunge and metal. One day I was in a bootleg store and I saw cool looking Cypress Hill tape, cover printed in b&w. Some hardcore I thought. Came back home, played it and I was so confused for a minute. Two maybe. And I just loved it. Decades passed and I get goosebumps from their show at Tiny Desk.

Pretty much the same for me. Beastie Boys and Cypress and Gravediggaz flipped my little metalhead mind. I've loved metal and rap equally ever since.

totally, i was on a school trip on a bus and someone was like, hey listen to this, and i didnt stop. must admit i had a Salt-n-Pepa and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince album already, but this was totally different

Temples of Boom was my very first Rap album back when I was like 12. A true classic masterpiece and amazing to see them still going strong!

I appreciate B-Real’s humility when he said how much he appreciated being on and acknowledged all the great artists that have sat in that seat. Then he proceeded to slay it, best Tiny Desk concert ever!

Oh man. This made my night! Love Cypress Hill. We used to be jamming to their music whenever we would make the road trip to Vegas when I lived in SoCal in the mid 90s. Their CDs were always in rotation with The Offspring, ELO, Public Enemy, Suicidal Tendencies and The Doors LOL

Honestly I wish each artist on Tiny Desk gave the back story behind their singles and given time to talk about it too (when the artists want to). This was awesome to hear about. Same with Babyface’s video!
