RM, First Korean Soloist to do NPR Tiny Desk show
I love how he sings about accepting the unavoidable coexistence of polar opposite emotions, and about accepting that love - hate, happiness-sadness, feeling lost - feeling found, it's all two sides of the same coin, you can feel both at the same time and that it's good to do so, cause it just shows how vigorously you live by allowing yourself to actually feel so deeply. I feel like rm is a perfect example of how good music has the power to transcend the language barrier. His deeply poetic lyrics and messages have gotten me through some really hard times in life, starting with his album mono. So much respect for him and his music, and so glad that npr has given him some solo recognition, he really deserves it!
What absolutely amazes me about Namjoon’s lyrics is that even when translated into English, I can still feel the weight and depth of his message. The translated lyrics read as beautiful poetry on their own.
@shockofthenew
Ай бұрын
Seriously, he could absolutely publish his lyrics as poetry (although I hope he keeps expressing them through music). Also I was thinking the other day about how interesting it is that BTS generally don't provide official translations for their lyrics. In a way perhaps that makes them harder to access, but it also adds this very interesting layer, because the only way to understand them is to read fan translations - and in doing so not only are you connecting with another person (which builds community), you often end up comparing multiple translations, and that creates this very nuanced, 3-dimensional feeling to the language. It's amazing to me how clearly the specific 'voices' and perspectives of the members come through in their writing, even when filtered through different translators. Also the way RM in particular plays with language and uses so many bilingual entendres adds something very special. It's almost like the full meaning can only be grasped through translation, it's fascinating!
in todays world where artists are pressured to create 2 min viral tt song i feel extremely grateful that he stays honest and sincere with his art. Also his pen game is so insane you can clearly see how passionate he is. He's truly once in a lifetime artist.

Love this comment. I know lyrics are very subjective, but to me not only do I find BTS lyrics often very poetic, with interesting imagery, but there's something in them that deeply connects to an emotional reality I recognise, which is hard for me to find in most music. Some of their songs are just for fun, but others really had a powerful effect on me at certain points in my life. It's rare for me to find an artist with lyrics that actually make me stop in my tracks, pause the song, and re-evaluate how I think about something. And it's rare to find an artist that makes me feel quite so alive and real as I do when listening to BTS. They remind me why I'm still here. So many people dismiss them without ever taking the time to actually listen to their discography or read decent translations of their lyrics. But for me they're already up there with the best artists of their generation, and I'm sure they have even more to show us in the future!
Im not a bts stan but i appreciate any good music! No matter the genre. This man is definitely talented 🔥

I see a lot of people in the comments saying they've never listened to BTS--this man is at the core of BTS' identity and message and his voice comes through in a lot of their music, they have some truly excellent tracks. One of their members, Suga once said, you will like BTS music if you listen without prejudice. These guys are real artists, the rap line is in particular top tier songwriters and producers, and RM is the core and the driver of all of that.
This performance is so impressive and beautiful. Namjoon's rap is charismatic, energetic, strong and elegant. I feel I can see Namjoon's beautiful world and feeling. His performance touches my heart. He will be successful as solo artist.
if this isn't a masterpiece idk what is. RM's existence is really a gift to the world cuz man he's just so well spoken and such a deep thinker. His view about the world is so unique. It's rare to find artists like him. Thank you RM for sharing this album to the world despite how personal it is to him
revisiting this tiny concert a day before his enlistment. Feeling sooo emotional. Thank you for giving this comforting performance, Joonie😭😭😭
Him showing us his true thoughts through these tracks, the mess of conflicting emotions, the rawness, vulnerability - it's so authentic and I appreciate it so much. I hope it was as healing for himself as much as it is for us. Love you Namjoon!
I am so inspired by the brilliance of RM. I hope he enjoyed every minute of making this incredible album. Please support him

@@iguszka175 literally😭, I have the same question. What kind of sad human lives life judging things they haven't even looked into themselves, and then talks down to people for liking it? Like pick a lane either like it and just simply learn to respect aspects of it, or don't like it and move on with your life 😩✋🏾

RM new album is so intimate. He really expessed himself and you can tell this was cathartic for him, a big release. I love him so much I wish him all the love and peace he desires.
I love how he introduce everyone of their name and instrument
This man is a true poetic genius I love what you produce and the amazing role model that you are. I wish more men would aspire to have more qualities like what you display
Namjoon really outdid himself. I never thought any album would outdid mono. but here we are. Indigo is a masterpiece. Kim Namjoon, you’re a legend, the greatest musician of this generation.
Namjoon's songs aren't just songs. They feel like a warm hug or just someone beside you watching the rain together. His ability to touch people's hearts with his lyrics is truly an amazing trait that not much can do. Good luck RM good luck Indigo
It's amazing how the 7 members of BTS are so different but complement each other so well. I really like Namjoon's rap in group songs, and although in his solo songs his style changes, I still like it. The guys have surprised me a lot with each debut and I love each album, but Indigo and Layover are my favorites.
I fall in love everytime that i heard his music, such a gorgeus man
You know an artist is unique and legendary when their voices shine way more in live sessions, that's exactly the case here. Glad to see such talent in a very humble and kind human.

Why do South Korean dislike dark skin but love African American Black RAP?
Can we take a moment to appreciate how smart, wonderful, talented, and just an all around great human Kim Nam Joon is?? His voice is so amazing. His songs and the explanations on how and why he wrote them. This man is truly a genius, and just a good human. I love you, RM. You deserve the world.

@@OfficiallRM004 please stop impersonating him. If you were really a fan, you'd know he's an atheist and doesn't use those phrases. Baby armys or locals can be fooled, but not everyone. 😐
The way RM is able to speak both literally and figuratively in his music is the most beautiful thing in the world to me. Listening to his music I am able to hear what his meaning and interpretation while also gaining my own personal insight speaks to him as an artist/composer/producer. RM ssi you are truly beautiful inside and out! *bows in respect* Thank you!
In conclusion... this men is amazing!
Coming back to this again and again for comfort during my darkest days. Kim Namjoon you are one of the brightest stars of our generation. No words can express the genius in you that touches our deepest emotion.
I love everything about this album. You can feel the sincerity in every single verse. I am just grateful to be living at the same time as Namjoon.
Namjoon is such a vibe! This is so him! I love it, I love the musicality... I wish he had more recognition in the fandom and out the fandom!
All the love for Rm and indigo
I’m so proud of Namjoon. His musical and lyrical genius has undoubtedly changed millions of Armys lives for the better. He is a true inspiration to so many. He has a killer intellect, and has been an amazing leader for BTS. His has a playful almost childlike spirit at times but don’t mess with one of his brothers or you will see how fiercely he will protect them. He has protected them from criticism from day one not translating mean comments while smiling. I love this man so, so much. To be honest I really never liked rap before I listened to BTS. Please support and stream his new album he deserves only great things in his life.
I never thought I would be hearing Seoul live, so I'm sitting here all emotional over it! Indigo is an spectacular album, a whole experience one only complete sincerity can provide to hurting hearts. Kim Namjoon, you are my artists 💜

I'm really upset that I just now found out about the existence of this video. I must've had a rough year not to notice 😅 I ADORE HIM. He's so talented (a genius lyricist, he's kind, mature, well-spoken, has a sexy brain, and well just sexy AF in general) 😍😍😍

He has grown so much as a person and leader and it shows. I know everyone is sad that BTS is going to serve soon, but they’ll all be back before we know it. They’ve given us their best and they’ll do it when they return. RM believes in himself, his army and his boys.
RM is one of the most talented and genius artists in the industry who actually curate their own art ,Tons of respect for him.
I really love indigo,it’s an incredible album, every track it’s so well done, this tiny desk it’s so good, definitely RM show many colors every time.
I love this Tiny Desk (Home)Concert by RM. In many ways it is uplifting. It showcase everything that RM is about.
I love it that he opened it with Seoul, leading us to be opened to the new ones. Indigo is nothing less than phenomenal, just like RM! Thanks NPR Music for this precious (tiny) concert of this (stellar) artist!
this was so, so good. what a gift these ten beautiful shades of blue namjoon has bravely chosen to share with us are. i will hold all these timeless tracks close to my heart and cherish them deeply. my wonderful joon, i trust that our love will reach you in its entirety, as sincerity always finds its way, doesn't it? and of course, thank you to the incredible john eun, docskim, jaeshin park, and jk kim for bringing your magic to this lovely tiny concert!

That’s Docskim. He has worked with Big Hit for a while and produced several BTS/solo tracks like Lie, Outro:Tear, Hope World, and Wildflower. I don’t know if they are still active but he was also apart of Ghost Band (they used to tour with BTS). And I’m sure he does other projects, I saw he played at Seo Taiji’s anniversary concert too.

He is docskim. He is my favourite BTS producer. He produced outro:tear which i found that song is masterpiece.
I have to keep coming back to this clip bc the way RM sang Seoul, it’s just too beautiful not to keep listening to it when he sang it LIVE. Mono was a genius album and Indigo showed his growth over the last few years. I feel that he can now speak his mind about the last few years of his 20’s and he will move on and not look back. I wish him well in his new adventures.

200 DAYS POST INDIGO.. STILL LISTENING TO IT... LOVE THIS ALBUM AND RM
His lyrics are great...it shows songs are not always about rhymed words it should have meaning behind it
RM is a music genius. I stream mono daily so I was so happy to hear Seoul as the first song. Indigo is a masterpiece and his voice is so amazing. Watching him on Tiny Desk is something I will treasure for a long time to come.
I love that he did a Tiny Desk for one of his promos!! I love all of your messages RM…. you are not only a genius in your lyrics but I love how open and vulnerable you choose to be with the world. 💜
I fell in love with Korea thru their dramas, then their music, and then RM. I adore him. He’s truly a special person. His lyrics hit me hard.
I love this version of RMs music it’s jus so soulful
